About Us

Enhancing life and learning for students.

All students will have opportunities to expand their creative potential and critical life skills.

As stewards who act with integrity, respect and transparency, our work is guided by:

COMMUNITY – We believe that students should have equitable access to the opportunities that we provide and, through community support, we strive to remove financial barriers that keep them from fully engaging in school life.

CREATIVITY – We believe that the future requires creativity and a commitment to learning and deeper understanding. We aspire to be creative in the work that we do and to inspire creativity in students.

COLLABORATION – We believe in the value of working with others and achieving together what may not be possible alone. Along with our education and community partners, we aspire to bring a collaborative spirit and strategy to all that we do so that students may be more fully served.

COURAGE – We believe that skills are as important as knowledge and that the arts are fundamentally invaluable in creating a whole person. We aspire to be courageous by speaking about their critical importance and to boldly innovate new ways of expanding the impact of our ‘hands-on’ approach to learning.

The Foundation For Education is a charitable organization that has enriched the life and learning of
youth since 1989.

The Foundation For Education has 3 main areas of focus:

  1. Enhanced learning experiences:
By raising and receiving funds, the Foundation offers education in excess of the levels prescribed
    by the Ministry of Education.
Workshops are led by local experts in programs that are arts-based experiences and life-skills
Artists are paid to share their talents with students; however the workshops are offered free to
the classroom giving students equal access to the enriched learning opportunity.
Donations are needed to ensure the workshops can be offered free to the classroom.
Donations means we can invest more money into programs like ART/LIFE, STEM, H.L Roszell
Special Education Fund, Small Project Grants & Canadian Reading Fund.
“I got to use a sewing machine for the first time because of one of your workshops which
sparked an interest that led me to go to university and pursue a career in fashion design”,
    AMDSB student
“It was wonderful for my students to learn about dance from someone with so much passion
for dance and a career at the Stratford Festival Music Department”, AMDSB teacher.
  2. Supporting Schools with Fundraising:
The Foundation For Education supports schools with their fundraisers by offering charitable tax
receipts to their donors, by creating fundraising materials, by accept donations online and by
partnering with schools to apply for grant money that is only available by partnering with a charity.
This support leads to playgrounds being built at our schools, tech equipment being purchased in the
classroom, sports equipment being purchased, nutrition programs being supported, and supplies
being purchased to support the art and music programs and so much more.
  3. Financial Assistance through a Caring Fund:
The Foundation For Education offers a Caring Fund that can help students who lack basic necessities,
face difficult challenges at home or find themselves in emergency situations. Financial support can be
offered as support to a variety of situations such as:
    • a student experiencing food insecurity and a grocery gift card could help.
    • a student’s family needing help paying for eyeglasses or a hearing test.
    • a student who got head lice and needs help paying for the treatment kit so they can return to
    • a student who needs new winter gear such as a snowsuit or boots.
    • a student who needs new clothes for graduation or everyday wear.

Caring Fund applications are submitted through principals from local schools. You can find the
Caring Fund application form here.

By donating to the Caring fund you are helping to remove the barriers that some students face
each and every day.
