Student Doc-Fest Shoots for Social Justice

SocDocs-trademark-w-title-trans-mThe Foundation will co-host SOCDOCS once again at The University of Waterloo Stratford Campus on May 29th .

Now in its’ 5th year, SOCDOCS Documentary Film Festival celebrates and enriches young filmmakers in their pursuit to creatively promote equality, democracy, and solidarity for a just, peaceful and compassionate society.

The Festival is founded by teacher John Esposito and supported this year by the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus, Rogers TV, Stratford Gazette, Beacon Herald and the National Film Board of Canada,.

By way of open contest and hands-on workshops with professionals in the field, the festival gives filmmakers the tools and opportunity to make statements in compelling ways on social justice issues.

Students throughout Southwestern Ontario will experience the acclaimed competition and workshop day.

Workshop leaders and speakers include award-winning animator James StewartJordan Mandel from the University of Waterloo, international documentarian Nadim Fetaih, media specialist Adam Sipione, recording engineer Dustin Smith and branding and design expert Christine Obemma.
