Avon Maitland Honours Foundation Champion

As Executive Director of the Foundation for Education from 1999 to 2009, Lynda tirelessly devoted herself to bolstering community involvement in support of Avon Maitland schools and built bridges between business and education whereby students could find mentorship, work experience and other inspiring opportunities. Lynda implemented a Ministry initiative that commissioned regional organizations to expand experiential learning in their areas. She recruited hundreds of new employers from Huron Perth, partnered with dozens of community organizations to deliver programs, seminars and publications and sat on the provincial board that administered the initiative provincially – the Ontario Business Education Partnership. She has been instrumental in developing thriving community programs with ties to the schools such as the Big Brothers & Sisters in-school mentoring program and The Baby Literacy Project with the Huron & Perth Health Units and has introduced 40 community artists to over 40,000 Avon Maitland students.

Known also as a consummate fundraiser and consultant for School Councils, Lynda has helped bolster school donations in her tenure by 170%, has managed to quadruple Gifts in Kind donations and established several legacy funds for schools. Lynda’s donation appeals and fundraisers have garnered community buy-in to the tune of nearly three quarters of a million dollars.
